The Massif of the Estérel |
||||||
|
It is about an eruptive primary massif , consisted of Porphyre for its central part , doubled by sandstone and by coats of clay on its coasting part . The highlight is the Mont Vinaigre ( 616 metres ) . Originally the massif was completely covered with oaks corks and greens , but the repeated fires destroyed a good part of the vegetation . To note that for the warm period , numerous roads are closed , to limit fire risk . The sweetness of the temperatures allows tropical plants to prosper next to local plants ( Palm tree , Eucalyptus , Agave , Mimosas - Olive tree , Laurels , Heath .. ) . The massif divides up on three municipalities : Frèjus , St Raphaël , Les Adrets . Numerous strolls wait for you , for example : The dale of Perthus , the dale of Mal Infernet , the Mont Vinaigre and Aurelle's peak ( Seen panoramic ) ,the grot of Ste Baume , the beaches and the coasting creeks . |
