The Var is a French department, it owes its name to a coastal river that once was its eastern boundary, but that the waters today after the attachment of the County of Nice in France and the incorporation of the Borough of fat during the creation of the Maritime Alps.
It is part of the Provence - Alpes - Côte d'Azur (PACA). It borders the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône to the west, Vaucluse (few hundred meters), Alpes-de-Haute-Provence north of the Alpes-Maritimes in the east, and is bathed by the Mediterranean Sea to the south.

Some general information to know about the department
Var has a Mediterranean climate with beautiful sunshine and dry summers. Temperatures are highly variable because the Var, diverse terrain, is subject to the influences of the sea and the Alps. Attention to Mistral, strong wind and turbulent and often east wind carrying rain.

The Var is covered by hills and low mountains with steep slopes but (Acme Mount Lachens 1715 meters). The plains are divided into the massive or to the coast. We also distinguish large trays as Canjuers, white or Signes .
Northern department is covered by tertiary Alps with the National Park and its famous Verdon gorges. The center and Var means are a succession of arable plains and hills.
